A friend of mine sent this to me and oh how true it is...

"A Kept Woman"

I Am a 'Kept ' Woman... You see, there were a few times when I thought I would lose my mind, But GOD kept me sane. (Isa. 26:3)

There were times when I thought I could go no longer, But the LORD kept me moving. (Gen 28:15)

At times, I've wanted to lash out at those whom I felt had done me wrong, But the LORD kept my mouth shut.. (Psa.13)

But GOD has helped me to keep the lights on, the water on, the car paid, the house paid, etc.., (Matt. 6:25 -34)

When I thought I would fall, HE kept me up. whent I was weak, HE kept me strong! (I Pet. 5:7, Matt. 11:28-30)

I could go on and on and on, but I'm sure you hear me...

I'm blessed to be 'kept '!

What's for dinner tonight???

Grilled boneless porkchops
German potato salad - recipe follows
Salad

German Potato Salad
(this recipe is full of flavor so you may not want to make it if you are a plain kinda' girl)

7-8 red potatoes
6 slices bacon
1/2 onion, chopped
2 tablespoons flour
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
3/4 cup water
1/3 vinegar

Boil potatoes for 25-30 minutes until cooked thoughout. Drain, set aside and slice when cool to the touch.

*Traditional method - Fry bacon until crisp and remove. Add onions and saute until soft. Add flour, sugar, salt and pepper. Cook and stir constantly for about a minute to get the raw flour taste out. Remove from heat and add water and vinegar. Return to heat and cook for 1 minute. Add back potatoes and stir until coated. Top with crumbled bacon.

*My quick way - Cut up ready serve bacon and toss in pan along with onions and a little bit of olive oil. Cook until onions are soft. Add flour, sugar, salt and pepper. Cook until it blends together. Add water and vinegar and mix until it forms a sauce. Add back potatoes and serve.

-I have also used canned sliced potatoes when in a hurry. It takes about 3-4 cans.

Something Sweet

Looking for something sweet??? Try good ol' fashion southern teacakes. The ingredients are simple and you can make a batch in no time. Perfect on a warm day with lemonade!

Teacakes

2 cups flour, self rising
1 cup sugar
1 cup crisco
1 egg
1 1/2 teaspoons sugar

Mix all ingredients together. Place on greased baking sheet - I use a small ice cream scoop to portion out cookies. Bake @ 350 for 10-12 minutes.

Easy Chicken Pot Pie

Chicken Pot Pie

1 1/2 chicken breasts , shredded

1 can cream of chicken soup

1 can homestyle veg-all, drain but save juice

1 "unroll and bake" pie crust

Mix chicken, soup and veg-all. Add enough broth or juice form veg-all to thin out (I add back most of the juice from the veg-all plus 1/4 cup of broth). Add salt and pepper to taste.

Pour mixture into pie dish. Unroll crust and crimp edges. Cut slits in the top to allow steam to escape. Bake @ 350 for 45 minutes or until crust is brown.

Dinner...

What in the world am I going to come up with for dinner??? I am trying to save every penny I can because we are going to Disney World in May. I have some boneless chicken breasts laid out and I have actualy put them in the crock pot to cook. I'm thinking I may turn it into chicken pot pie. I have the easiest recipe ever and I will post it later this afternoon while I'm cooking it.

Speaking of the crock pot - I stumbled on a website where someone was using their crockpot everyday! How crazy is that... Go to http://crockpot365.blogspot.com/ to check it out.
So here we go...

Welcome to my blog...it is what it is. My life as a real woman, a real wife and a real mom.

Do you ever fell like you life is spinning and you just want to stop and take it all in...then this is the place for you. I often feel that I get so wrapped up in life that I just never get a chance to take it all in. I came across Blogger and thought this would be a great way to do so.

So what is my blog all about? Me of course! I'm a woman, a wife and a mom. I love to read, cook, craft and shop (for a good deal of course). Be patient and follow me into this wonderful adventure of my life...
